Re: Indirect/Soft Gifts
Thanks. The issue is not with Fidelity; it is with PowerChurch. How to record a "soft gift" donor (the donor behind the Donor Advised Fund) in the Contributions module, so that we can track all gifts that come from a donor.

Re: Indirect/Soft Gifts
If the charitable organization (i.e., Fidelity) sends donations from more than one Donor Advised Fund, then there is no way to "connect" the Donor Advised Fund to one specific donor. That's what I'm trying to get at. I want to connect each donor with their gift, even if they don't receive a tax-dedu...

Re: Contribution Date vs. Deposit Date
Thanks for your response.
I do reconcile the bank statement with the deposits before posting contributions.
I was just hoping for a way to show both the date of contribution and the date deposited to the bank.
Thanks,
Terry

Re: Indirect/Soft Gifts
Hi, thanks for your responses. Yes, my question was about donors who use Donor Advised Funds, not retirement funds. I want to "link" the charitable organization (ex. Fidelity Charitable), to the donor without giving them a second tax deduction for the gift. What happens when Fidelity Charitable is u...

Contribution Date vs. Deposit Date
I can only find one date for entering contributions, so I end up using the bank deposit date, so that it reconciles with the bank statement. Is there a way to enter the actual contribution date (when they donated online or the the Sunday they put the check in the offering), so that it matches a dono...

Indirect/Soft Gifts
Is there a way to log an indirect gift/"soft" gift, such as a donor requesting that their Charitable Fund or Donor Designated Fund give the gift. But the donor who requested that is the contact and responsible one that we'd like to thank, even if we don't send them a tax-deductible receipt for the g...

Re: Initial setup mistake
Thanks again for replying. Yes, that was the plan, to have separate funds with separate expense accounts. Maybe I have misunderstood what Funds are. The system we are leaving used one set of account numbers with different funds, but it was very messy. I had hoped this system would solve that problem...

Re: Initial setup mistake
Thank you. However, the general fund is 01 and the temp restricted funds are 03-Missions, 04-Building Fund, etc. So how does the entry look when it moves to the other fund, not from 01 to 01? I'm needing to move funds from 01 to 03 and 01 to 04, etc. This way effectively has us entering all of our t...

Re: Initial setup mistake
I am new to Power Church. I've done the accounting setup three times now trying to add beginning balances to other (non-General) funds. Reading through this thread, I thought I should reduce the checking account balance in the General Fund by the amount of each temp restricted fund; then add each fu...
