Re: Spring Fund Cleaning

Darn. Just looked at comparing data between directories, but there were no duplicates. Then I had a closer look. The other person who enters data to Accounting had made one entry in Fund 98, and reversed it after it was found to have been incorrectly entered (Dec. 17, 2009). In all the other Account...

Spring Fund Cleaning

Last year, 2009, I emptied out two funds because they had become redundant. In trying to delete them then, v.9 wouldn't let me because they had had monies in them early in the year. In order to make it a bit easier to do consolidated Balance Sheets and Income Statements, I renumbered and saved them ...

Re: zero balance and inactive accounts

When i had accounts that I no longer wanted on Balance Sheet, I renumbered them starting with 8000 (eg. 01-8000-000). Not sure where this idea came from, but probably from this forum. Which is GREAT!

Re: Canadian date format

It works. Thank you so much. Now I'll just have to see about getting cheques printed to match the output. I'm wondering if the distance from the top of the page will vary from printer to printer?

Re: Canadian date format

Would it be that difficult to code in another format to PowerChurch? There are two now on this version. v.9 http://www.cdnpay.ca/rules/pdfs_rules/standard_006.pdf is another URL which covers this topic from a Canadian/International standpoint. The examples use yyyy mm dd as well as others, and I'd l...

Re: Canadian date format

Thanks Neil Not sure what's happening here. It's been my observation that since Canada went "metric" away back when, that the formal date format was yyyy mm dd (eg. 2009 04 30 is April 30, 2009). Maybe our Credit Union, Bank, and federal Government have it wrong; or maybe this is something that Powe...

Canadian date format

Using v.9, is there a way that we can set up the cheques to use the Canadian format method (largest to smallest (yyyy mm dd). Our financial institutions use this format, and if we use their cheques, we need to be able to print in this format.

Is this feature changed in v.10?

Re: Custom Check Layout

Another approach might be to make a backup of your files. Then, create and print a dummy cheque (check). Then restore the previous backup, taking you back to the moment before your dummy cheque (check).

Re: Double Voided Payroll Checks

You're right, Kristi. Three voids are the same as one void. It may make your reports look a bit "funny" but should work fine. Another approach - If you make daily backups of all data, you could print a journal report for the period since then. Then, restore to the date just before the original fatef...

Re: Building Fund Contribution

If your Operating Fund is 01, consider creating a second fund - Building Fund 02. New accounts can then be created. Then, money coming into the Building Fund can be deposited to 02-1110-000 (different fund but same bank account). The income account can be shown as 02-4xxxx-xxx (where x stands for so...

Re: Excel Report problem

Thank you. I'll quit worrying about it then.
Any idea about why the fund headings are offset three or four columns to the right?

Re: Bank Reconciliation - Differences

I think you logic is correct Pam. You should postpone the reconciliation until your next month's statement arrives. That way, you can do two month's info at one time.

HOWEVER, if that doesn't reconcile you've got some digging to do.

Excel Report problem

No answer when I posted this on Accounting forum, so will try here given that this is a Report problem. Using PC v. 9 and Excel 2003. When saving a Balance Sheet by Fund (level 6) as an Excel file, I get the following error message every time. "File error: data may have been lost" There are seven fu...

File error

Using PC v. 9 and Excel 2003. When saving a Balance Sheet by Fund (level 6) as an Excel file, I get the following error message every time. "File error: data may have been lost" There are seven fund columns, one total column, one account title and one account number column. Also, the fund titles are...

problem editing accounting fund

v.9 What I would like to do is modify Accounting Fund #05 to #06 (same name and data), and then Add a new #05 fund. When I make the change and click Save, it asks for verification, which I give. Then, I try to close the dialog box, and it asks again and again for verification. There seems to be no w...
