Can't Change Accounting Fund Number

Using Version 9, program date 10/16/2008, in Maintain List of Accounting Funds, I tried to change Fund 03 to 13. Next screen: Please verify you want change 03 to 13. Clicked Yes. Next screen: Changing Account Number. When you click Save it repeats Please verify, etc. The only way to get out of the l...

No reply needed. IRS form 941 explains how to correct errors in withholding. I think the "Round off to the nearest dollar" check box needs to have a warning: Do not do this unless you completely understand the consquences of this choice!

Payroll withholding error

Last year I inadvertently checked the "round off to nearest dollar" on the social security withholding screen. That resulted in withholding 30 cents too much in each of 24 pays for one individual. The IRS returned the difference after our quarterly 941 forms reported the amount owed (calculated to t...

OK, that did it! I must have forgotten to reset AND close the program before previewing the labels. I did that, then edited the label and closed the program again BEFORE previewing the labels. Now it works.

Thanks for all you help.

I was premature in declaring the problem solved. What I described in my previous message fixed it on my Win XP computer at home. It didn't work on the Win 2000 computer at church. In fact there I can't print labels at all--custom or standard, from any module (membership or contributions). Instead of...

Thanks Neil, I reformatted the custom label and it works now. By the way, for it to work, you have to click on Reset in the custom label screen, then close the program and restart it, and then click on Edit. Without the restart the file stays corrupted.

The computers are not networked but one has data restored from backups made on the other. I didn't realize till I read your reply that the file in question was my custom label layout (No problem with the standard labels). I have no idea when or how that one became corrupted. I assume I have two opti...

Mailing labels won't print

When I try to print family mailing labels (or even just preview them) I get an error message: Program: PC labels Line: 802 Error: 41 Message: Memo file [path] lblcust.frt is missing or invalid [I checked: it is not missing] My temporary workaround is to export the data to a spreadsheet and print lab...

Thanks for the advice. Fortunately, I did have a copy of the previous MR in my trash folder. I will install another copy of PC+ in a separate folder (I only have one drive) and apply the previous MR. That should work until the next one is released and, hopefully, solves the problem.

I don't think my problem is the same as the one in the thread you referenced. Everything is OK in the other columns (altho percent of budget is not one of them for me). The problem is that nothing shows up in the first column (Current Period) at summary levels 3 and 4. If I understand the issue in t...

Report problem after maintenence release

A problem appeared after I installed the latest maintenance release (program date 4/5/05). When I run an Income & Expense report at level 3 or 4 nothing appears under Current Period except for the totals and level 2 subtotals. Other columns are OK--year-to-date is calculated and displayed correctly....

Randy,
Thanks for the advice. One question about your reply. What kind of account do I use for the second line, "debit loss on sale." Debiting an asset would increase it but this is a loss. Should I create a Fund Balance account for this so the debit will decrease it? What would I call the account?

Sale of church building

Our church, the result of the recent merger of two churches, just sold one building and its land for $700,000. The building and land have been listed as fixed assets on our books for a total of $750,000. Since this is a rare event and I have very little experience in accounting I would appreciate ad...

Transferring monies between funds - 4 line transaction?

A question on your instructions for transferring money between funds: do you "always" have to use a four-line transaction (asset transfer and income transfer). This is my situation. We started a new church on Jan. 1 which was a merger of two churches. We started our accounting by creating asset tran...
