Credit Memo Question
We use accounts receivable to collect and track individuals money for mission trips. On occasion people use their own credit card to pay for a trip expense, such as buying airline tickets. We want to lower the amount owed on the invoice and assume that it is a credit memo, but we cannot figure out t...

Re: Sub Account Question
I didn't proof read well. Yes it all stays in 05- fund. The reason we put in a savings account to protect it. At an earlier time dollars were really tight and we wanted to protect the money from being spent accidently. And some is there for a significant time ad people regularly put in money but mis...

Sub Account Question
We do mission trips and I have sub accounts for each person who is part of the team. This example will use my numbers. Currently, when money comes in we enter the debit account 05-1230-512 and the credit account 05-4100-512. Then when we spend, we move out of 05-1230-512 to 05-1230-000 which is a sa...

Re: Sub Accounts
Can you provide some more details on the current procedure that is being used, starting with the tracking of the contributions? Examples of the debit and credit entries that are being done for each step in the process would really help. Also, are there separate equity accounts set up for each sub a...

Sub Accounts
We have a team of people that go on a yearly mission trip. In order to better track their contributions, each member has a subaccount. It is time to expense those contributions. In the past we have divided up each person's share and expensed their sub account. I.e., 630 airfare, 320 meds, 1100 daily...

Re: Out of Sub Accounts
You are almost understanding my question. Yes we are spending out of a general, but the money is currently in a savings account, 1230-511 and transferred to a checking account 1110-000 to be spent. So I need to get it from the savings to the checking account.

Out of Sub Accounts
I want to make sure I record the following entries correctly and need a little help. We have a fund (Haiti Trips) in which we keep track of moneys donated/given for our mission trips. Each person has a sub account in their name, i.e.: 05-1230-511 = my savings asset 05-1110-511 = my checking asset 05...

Subaccount balance carryover from previous year.
Is there a way to know the carryover from last year, the balance of a subaccount. If I enter December 2013 I have a balance, but if I enter January 2014 that balance does not show up.

Emailing Error for Contributions.
We are wanting to email a contribution statement. We have entered the necessary information in preferences, but when we test the connection we get the following error message. I think it has something to do with ports, but they cannot be adjusted. 6/25/2013 1:52:48 PM <-- [00000000] 6/25/2013 1:52:4...

Attendance Report Problem
We are trying to print "Details of Personal Attendance" reports for a couple in our church. One of them will print and the other one will not. The one that will not print is a member of the church, is a part of the activity. We can see his attendance when we go to his "Personal Profile" so we know h...

Re: Starting Balances for Restart
Thanks John. After I posted the question, I then realized that I could do just that and have a record of the deposits and checks. I also realized it was kind of a dumb question, but putting it in words helped me clarify the issues. I am still a little fuzzy on the sub-account issue, but I can...

Starting Balances for Restart
I am planning an accounting restart. My year began Jan 1. So far all we have posted are January contributions. I am wanting to make sure I know where to get the account balances. I am thinking December bank statement - outstanding checks + posted contributions = current balance. And as those will no...
