Update Contacts to Outlook - Contact Location?
I have been trying PC's Update Contacts to Outlook (Microsoft365), but I don't quite understand where contact list it goes to. I don't want it to merge with the contact list I have. How can I control what contact list it goes to? Can I create a empty contact list that would except the contacts from ...

Re: Email error: message "." on a line by itself
Thanks for that info. I did not know that message was actually coming back from the SMTP server. That leads me in a direction to look. I changed my settings from SSL to none and it seems to be working now. Maybe it's a certificate problem. Loses authentication on pauses. I sometimes get a certificat...

Re: Email error: message "." on a line by itself
Yes, the same error message. It acts like Power Church is truncating the email message. Maybe something in my system is causing it to truncate. Got plenty of hard drive space. Memory should be OK. This is running on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server. The email server: SMTP authentication required, SSL,...

Re: Email error: message "." on a line by itself
Here it is a month later and we are again trying to send accounting reports and large reports fail to send. I had actually forgotten about the problem in the mean time. I have no new information for troubleshooting except that we did change DSL Service in late November. I don't think I mentioned tha...

Re: Email error: message "." on a line by itself
Reports failed to send, except for one 8.6K PDF file. The failed to send reports were larger multipage PDF files. I managed to attach one of those larger files (42.5K) to an email in Outlook Express and it sent fine. It appears my Powerchurch 10.4 cannot send large PDF files.

Re: Email error: message "." on a line by itself
I just found out that it is only the income/expense report that won't send. It is a 47K PDF file. Some of the other reports sent fine - the balance sheet and the actual error page that I got. I think there's something in that PDF file that's triggering an email send abort. Maybe it's too big? The ot...

Re: Email error: message "." on a line by itself
Yes, I have since discovered that I can put the port number after the email address. I did put port 465 there, which is what my working Outlook's smtp is set at, and the test button shows a successful connection. I still get the same error when I try to send a report. The server settings in the emai...

Email error: message "." on a line by itself
I can't figure out why power church no longer sends emails. I get an error message that says: Enter message, ending with "." on a line by itself. I'm just sending one income expense report to one person. I checked my smtp settings which are set to SSL and when I hit the send Test button, it says it ...

Oh yes. We cringe when we get specific donations to a budgeted line item (PowerChurch 'account'). But people really like to give to specific things. Our solution depend on what the item is. In some cases, we have created a special matching non-budgeted expense line. That can add a lot of additional ...

Budgeting: Carry over cash from last year?
I think I've asked this before. Maybe some answers have been discovered, so I'll ask again.... We have about $3000 of cash left over in 2007 that we want to use in 2008 to pay general expenses. We have budget income, budgeted expenses, and even budgeted liabilities. In order to establish a balanced ...

Outsource Accounting?`
Our church is considering outsourcing the accounting and payroll to an accounting firm because of the amount of work required to keep up with accounting. Our Treasurer is paid half time, but works about 3/4 time for our small 350 member church. Using an accouting firm would releive us of the burden ...

How Do You Delete A Fund?
We can't figure out how to delete a fund. We have some funds that were used a couple of years ago that we no longer use. They show up on our reports and we always have to explain to people why they are there. We do add "DELETED" to the fund name to indicate that we are not using those funds any more...

Kristi, It sounds like you work at our Church! Your history of this problem is almost exactly like ours. Here is basicly how we budgeted loan payments as an expense a few years ago: We had a budgeted expense line item for the loan payment. When paid, we credited checking and debited the expense line...

How Do You Budget Loan Payments?
How do you handle long term loan payments in your budget? i.e. interest and principal? I'm wondering if we are doing something wrong. Here's what we do: To my accouning knowlege, money received from long term loans should be credited to a liability account. (and debited savings asset account) That's...

I was excited when I hear that PC had an Event calendar that could email notifications of events. I had been asked to setup a special computer so volunteers could manually email notices of meetings to people a week or so before the meetings so the secretary would not have to do it all of the time. H...
