Thanks Matt and Jeff, I think the light bulb just came on, so to speak. (Note that in this context, when I say "transaction", I am referring to a balanced, 2 lline entry. Most are actually done as a 4-line entry, which would be 2 transactions, as I describe it here) The release transaction removes t...

Restricted Funds.... One More Time
Hey all, I am having problems getting entries to work properly using temp. restricted funds. I have PC+ 9 on Win 2000. I have 2 funds. 01 is my general funds (unrestricted) and 02 is my restricted funds. In fund 02, I have, for example, a Human Care fund. This consists of an equity account, an incom...

Incorrect Starting Balance Correction
Hi all, I am hoping I didn't create too large of a mess...... We purchased PC+ 9.0 at the beginning of December. While I was setting up the COA, I entered the current bank balance for the starting balance of our General Funds (Fund 01). Later, I found out that the treasurer had written a bunch of ch...

<edited 2/11/05 at 9:35am EST> Hi! I just had the same problem a few days ago, so I am happy that I can finally help answer a question, instead of asking all the time! Here is the thread where I got my answer. Towards the bottom is where you will find the answers, but read the whole thing for contex...

Since this is the balance at the beginning of 2005 the following journal entry should get your beginning balance for your checking account and the correct equity accounts: If you have not put the beginning balance for your 02-1120 checking account you would: DB 02 bank account for the beginning bal...

I think I understand better what you are trying to do now. The accounting setup assistant does only setup one fund. A couple more questions to make sure I have a grasp what exactly you will need to do. The balance in the checking account for fund 1 right now does it include these designated balance...

I used the setup assistant for the general fund (Fund 01) which contains all of our budgeted items. Since the Designated Funds (02) uses a seperate checking account, I did that one seperately. IIRC, the assistant only sets up fund 01 (although I could be very wrong). Income and expenses are current ...

The changes in equity report shows each equity account and lists the amount of income, expenses, transfers that effect that particular equity account. The transaction you listed debiting the bank and crediting the income should increase the income column for the equity account the income account is...

I am confused, then, becuase when contributions are posted, they post to the Income account. These are all Donor Restricted accounts, so they are set up with the complement of Income, Release, and Equity account. Whenever we post contributions from the Contributions Module, and then post that transa...

Hi again! As indicated in my previous postings, we are transitioning from Quickbooks to PC+ 9.0 for our accounting. My question this time involves the designated funds account. The secretary has been entering contributions for the last 3 Sundays, which has included some donations to the designated f...

Accounts Payable Account selection
Hi! We use manual checks for all of our check writing. When the treasurer starts entering check info into PC+ v9, she looks up the account in the printed chart of accounts that we have on hand for reference. Is there a way to get a locate function for the account number entry? If not, I think this m...

Setting up accounting
Hi everyone! I am the financial secretary for our church. We have been using Quickbooks for our accounting for the last 4 years ( I have been doing this for 3). We have used PowerChurch in the past for accounting, but when the secretary trashed the fund accounting 4 years ago, the F.S. and treasurer...
