Re: Creating a Fund for pass through expenses
Why ... the money is not to the church, but is to be paid to a third party. This is a pass through. Just because it is not an organization such as the Gideons does not make it any more than a pass through. " "The point being .. this is not a contribution, it is a payment for goods and services, ther...

Re: Creating a Fund for pass through expenses
To clarify. These types of scenarios I am speaking about would not qualify for a tax receipt. It is simply an event the church supports but those attending are asked to pay their own way. So it is not a budgeted item on the church books, therefore this is why I'd prefer to not have it on the income...

Re: Creating a Fund for pass through expenses
"Pass through money can be anything that is not used by the church for its own mission. As noted in the original post, this includes collections for trips, family camps, etc. " I'm not an accountant. But that is contrary to everything I've read and understand. "9 out of 10 times, the trip to a theat...

Re: Creating a Fund for pass through expenses
Hello, I have some different scenarios with money passing through the church books towards other functions such as trips, family camps, retreats etc. I will use the example of a trip. Money is collected through the church and then one lump sum payment is submit to a travel agent. So the church is m...

Re: Minister Accountability Plan
In a recent visit with his tax professional, our Pastor was told to handle his ministerial expenses differently for 2019. They are asking that he submit all ministry related expenses paid out of his pocket to the church on a monthly basis. That amount would then reduce his housing allowance (he was...

Re: Payroll Service vs Power Church payroll processing
We use PayChex to process our payroll. We use them for pay direct deposits, IRS funds transfers, quarterly and annual filing. Plus, staff can go online and reprint pay stubs and W2s when needed. For our many independent contractors, we use the Powerchurch service for 1099s. I used to go to Staples, ...

Re: Report that shows how a check was expensed
You could also run the Journal Report in Funds Accounting. Just specify the month range of the check you are looking for.

Re: Unrestricted Net Assets
As a follow up, how are you tracking restricted donations? Before PC+ included the Donor Restriction module, We'd set up separate funds. Now we use the Donor Restrictions. By using that the Total Net Assets and the Total Restricted Assets are shown on the balance sheet. The difference in the two is ...

Re: Convert from Online to Plus
I'll leave PC+ out there for a week or so - just in case - and then will have it deleted. But as it looks now, everything on PC Online is working just fine. FWIW .. I wouldn't delete it, as having something local you can use to access older backups if necessary, especially if you do a database clea...

Re: Plus versus Online Decision
We just moved from over 20 years of PC+ to PC Online. Functionally, they are pretty much identical. Same look and user interface - whcih made the transition easier. We made the decision for several reasons: 1. Remote access to PC+ was difficult. The remote access links had to be maintained by or net...

Re: Convert from Online to Plus
My Church JUST moved from PC+ (local LAN based) to PC Online. Process is very simple. As NeilZ said, you send PowerChurch a backup and they build your PC Online environment. However here is what I did. On Friday Nov 3, I took the backup and sent the files to PC. We kept on using our LAN based PC+ fo...

Re: Backup CD Not Recognized
As a suggestion, you would get better use and performance from backing up to a thumb drive. Greater capacity, much faster throughput, retain multiple backup versions. Maybe even an external USB disk drive.

We also use SecureGive Vision. Not a direct integration into PC+, but a simple export/import.whfpc wrote:We started using SecureGive in April and have online, app and text to give. Simple import and prices are good.

Re: CSV file
As NeilZ said, it's hard to say, not know what you are doing. But in general when you create a report, saving as a csv file is not an option. You could save as an Excel file, and then take the Excel file and SAVE AS csv.

Re: PowerChurch v12 vs PowerChurch Online
The closest thing that PowerChurch has to allowing members to update their own contact information is the OneBody Hosting product. OneBody is an online church directory where your church members can go and browse the church directory online or generate a PDF directory, which is delivered via e-mail...
