An update has now been issued by AVG which fixes this issue. If your installation of AVG automatically checks for updates in the morning, go ahead and manually tell it to check for updates again. This should resolve the issue. Hopefully, no one was caused any harm because of this!

The posted contributions should have restored with the backup. They aren't lost, they just aren't in unposted status anymore. The problem, it sounds like, is that you can't post them to "Update Fund Accounting" on your system. This will have to be done manually in Fund Accounting > Enter Transaction...
