Re: Version 11.5 - 11/9/2011 Maintenance Release

Zorak,

I have run the mr several times, but when I check the program date in PC+, it still shows 9/21/2011. Have you heard of anyone else having that problem? When I have PC+ check for updates, it tells me I have the latest version.

Re: In House Payroll vs Outside Vendor (CA users)

David, IMHO doing this work in-house for a small staff is not complicated nor difficult at all. If your bookkeeper is quick to pick things up, I wouldn't think it would be a problem. However, not being in California, I can't speak to the payments, etc. there, but I am in Oregon and we have income ta...

Re: Installing a copy of PowerChurch on personal computer

Another suggestion. I use my home laptop for the same purposes. When I do backup at the church, I not only back up locally, but I also back up to our Dropbox account. I can then just restore from the Dropbox backup when I'm at home. The 2 gig Dropbox account is free. I have found this to be a very u...

Re: Receipt Form for materials

I get quite a few of these types of things during the year, so I modified an Excel receipt template that I found on the web. It has the church logo, etc. on it and the "No goods..." etc. statement on the template. I just enter each receipt and the spreadsheet totals everything. It has worked well. O...

Re: Funding ministry accounts

John is correct about this. However, the one drawback to this that I see and the reason I don't use it is that on reports it doesn't give you a true picture of how much actually came in as tithes (or whatever you're transferring it from). For example, if you had $100 come in for tithes in the genera...

Re: Balance Sheet doesn't balance

A clue would be to run a consolidated balance sheet. If it balances, then it's likely that what John said is correct since this report accounts for all funds. If it's still off, then it is possible it was set up incorrectly. Is there any way of telling if they checked for balance when they set it up?

I've opened it both ways with the same results. I don't have any current needs, but I was just curious to see how it looked in case I ever needed to use it.

Re: Using ACCESS for reports

Zorak,

I have done this export a couple of times, but when I open the database with Access 2007, I don't see any tables or data or anything. Am I missing something? This may not be the right forum. :wall:

Thanks.

Re: 1099 Employees

I'll just chime in here concerning 1099 "employees" and agree with Neil. Obviously, I don't know your situation, but I would be very careful about employees being treated as independent contractors. The IRS has several criteria for making this determination. In fact, it is often called the IRS 20 Fa...

Neil,

In a user's profile under the System Utilities tab you can uncheck the backup box (if it was checked) to prevent a user from doing a backup.

Re: EFTPS and 941 forms for Payroll liabilities

I use EFTPS and our Oregon EFT system to do these deposits. Very easy and just like Tom, I just enter them as manual checks. I use check numbers that tell me what it was and what month, like FED 10/09 is the deposit for EFTPS for October of 2009. With EFTPS you can also schedule when the payment is ...

Re: Set Restricted Accounts to Zero Balance

For what it's worth, your Board needs to be careful about using designated funds for purposes other than the designation. There are specific ways of handling this kind of thing. One is to try to locate the donors who gave these funds and either return the funds to them or get their permission (in wr...

Re: Accounts Payable

I have noticed that the Power Church Today doesn't always update when it's opened...even when you start up PC. I usually have to click the refresh box to get it to display the proper figures, especially the checkbook balance. This is a possible bug (or feature :) ) I don't know if anyone else is see...
