Re: Membership General
Sure does - thanks !!!! Just a note--- our secretary started using powerchurch for membership purposes a very long time ago. About 2-3 years ago, we decided to get another computer going for the powerchurch financial / contribution module. We transitioned our old finance / donor records into Powerch...

Re: Membership General
Neil, Thanks ---- I'm pretty new to the membership module ---our secretary recently passed away and I'm trying to assist with getting membership records up to date. I didn't realize that the profile codes were adjustable ---- and just found them in the setup area. Will adjust to make them more self ...

Membership General
Just a note to see how this is done by others. Has anyone tried to use each of the membership classifications: Member - Inactive, Non-Resident Member, and Resident Member? What criteria did you use to make distinctions - or did you just classify as "Resident Member" for all, then adjust "mailing cat...

Re: Merge Donors
Neil - Will print this out and give it a go. Will let you know! Greg We have two donors who mark their envelope "Ken Smith and Debbie Jones", and combine their cash donations each week. As we set them up in powerchurch, we listed them as two separate donors (different envelope numbers) and just even...

Merge Donors
We have two donors who mark their envelope "Ken Smith and Debbie Jones", and combine their cash donations each week. As we set them up in powerchurch, we listed them as two separate donors (different envelope numbers) and just evenly divided the donation between each. I'd like to figure out a way to...

Re: Transfer of Unrestricted $
Well Neil, I continued to rethink this approach - and decided to go back to one of my early backups and changed how we handled this. I just added a new expense line on my general fund to make the payment (land purchase expenses) from general checking, then made a command decision to increase the gen...

Re: Transfer of Unrestricted $
Thanks Neil. I'll give it a go and confirm it worked. After doing this, I now wish we would have just completed the purchase using general funds -- where we have the money anyway..!
Thx again for your advice. Backups are indeed our friends...

Transfer of Unrestricted $
Question - I have a situation where the church wants to purchase some land initially using general funds, but establish a restricted fund line item in our building fund (temporary restrictions) to collect future donations to replenish the funds from general. The initial expense will be for $1000 as ...

Re: Printing Checks
Thanks Tom. When I went into the custom print screen as Neal mentioned, I forgot to consider the 2 stubs as you mentioned. That is a good idea to just remove the number from the check but leave the stubs with correct check number. Will do that. Thx to all for your help.

Re: Printing Checks
Neal,
I "checked" on this last night and found how to remove the check number from printing. Will run a test before implementing fully. Just want to thank you again for your help.
Thx!! You've really made a difference for us....!

Re: Printing Checks
Thanks again Neal!
I think I'll live with the duplicate number as you suggest. From what I've seen, it's cumbersome to create custom formats....
Will go forth and do good things with the computer checks...!

Printing Checks
We are looking at using Dynamic Systems checks (recommended by Powerchurch) and printing them using version 11.55. From what I can tell, we need to enter an accounts payable invoice and print checks from that information. (Looks like computer printed checks will not work with the "manual check" opti...
