Re: Check Reader - Is it worth it?
Thanks Neil -
I'd say with our volume, we'll just keep handling manually. Also - we do have that situation re: bank issued checks on several donations. The reader would probably cause us more confusion then what it would be worth..
Thanks again for your thoughts....

Check Reader - Is it worth it?
Just looking at the features that are available with Powerchurch. I've got some mild interest in the check reader feature. Would anyone care to share their experiences using Powerchurch with a check reader, and provide some feedback on it (good or bad)? We are a small church and probably have 50 - 6...

Re: Family / Contributor Data Entry
Thanks again, Neil. Very helpful --- will try to clean this up as we continue adding new entries......
We do a records review early each year (right now) to clean up records for deaths in prior years. Will copy your post into my "Powerchurch Maintenance Manual" book for future reference.

Family / Contributor Data Entry
Background - Our church started using the Membership module several years ago. With that approach, the church secretary entered names via the integrated family screens. We recently started using Powerchurch for contributions and accounting purposes. When we did that, we used a combination of the exi...

Book Sales
Our pastor wants to set up a book sales program for church members. The intent will be for the church to buy several bibles, reference books, etc and offer them for sale to the membership at cost, with no donor credit for revenues received. Are there any ideas / suggestions on how to set up income /...

Release Funds
Is there some sort of Powerchurch pop up reminder that will alert you to "release" when using restricted funds? Seems like I saw that somewhere in my set up / reading but now I cannot find how to turn that on. Anyone out there know how to do that, if that feature is available? I keep forgetting to h...

Re: Sales of Christmas Poinsettias
Neil, A twist on this topic.... The poinsettia bill came in lower than expected by around $40.00. So...We actually collected more funds for the poinsettias than we needed. I applied the collections against a pass thru contribution account, which established a liability for money collected... Thinkin...

Re: Sales of Christmas Poinsettias
Neil, Exactly as I did it today... Thx again for the advice. I've written these nuggets down in my "PowerChurch Maintenance Manual" for follow up. I seem to forget the details behind some of these transactions as they are so infrequent. Appreciate your help, and that of all the forum members with th...

Re: Sales of Christmas Poinsettias
Neil, You mentioned an expense account for the poinsettias... Do you mean that my expense posting is really against the liability account for the poinsettias? Assume the following: Received $84 for poinsettias, and eventually will receive a florist bill for $84.00.... Post $84.00 to Contribution fun...

Re: Sales of Christmas Poinsettias
Thanks for your help!
I didn't realize that a contribution fund could be set up without giving donor credit. I'll look at that and fold that into the solution.
Really appreciate your help.
Thx!

Sales of Christmas Poinsettias
Our church sells poinsettias each year at Christmas for members to purchase in honor of / memory of loved ones. After they are displayed in the sanctuary, they are then taken home by those who purchased them. Based on that approach, we do not give donor credit for the income received. My question --...
