. Luckily, I back up to tape each night so getting all the data back on was no problem and PCP is running fine on the server (I reindexed everything and ran Net Setup on the server).
The problem is none of the network computers can access PCP. I figured that I would need to run Net Setup on the those computers again but nothing happens when I try. I can get to the program on the server from the network computers, but when I double-click on NetSetup10, nothing happens! I tried remapping to no avail. Both the PowerChurch and PCPLUS10 folders on the server are set up to be shared and modifiable on the network.
Any Suggestions?
I'd check to make sure that all the executible files have execute permissions setup properly.
You didn't say what version of XP you're running, home or Pro. If it was Pro, I'd say it would be permission issues.
What you may want to do is just reinstall Powerchurch. Make a backup of the database, do a reinstall, then restore the database. Then see what happens with the networked clients.
Thank you! That worked and I am now able to run NetSetup on the workstations, but now there is a problem running PCP itself. When I try to access PCP10 on the workstations, it doesn't recognize that it's registered.
When the opening screen comes up, our registration number, church name & address don't show on the screen although it's there on the server. I then get a window that welcomes me and thanks me for purchasing PowerChurch and says the next several screens will prepare PCP to run on my computer.
When I click next, the next screen asks if I have a prior version of PCP that I want to upgrade.
If I click yes, it searches for prior versions but doesn't find any. I then get a screen asking me to specify where the old files are, and even when I tell it to look at the server, it can't find the files.
If I click no, it brings me to a screen to put in our registration # and church data. Once I put that in and click finish, I start getting error messages that say, "The screen you selected could not be started. Please make sure no one is reindexing data files and try starting this screen again." (No one is even IN PCP at this point.)
That happens twice and then I am brought to a standard windows open screen that is looking at the program files folder of the workstation's C drive. Other than the fact that it appears to be looking for a file with an extension of .dbf, I have no idea what it is looking for, so I click cancel.
I then get a screen that says that setup is complete and to restart PCP. So, I restart PCP and the whole process above begins again with the welcome and thanks screen!
Any further suggestions? I tried uninstalling the PCP Runtime files from the workstation and then re-ran NetSetup, but that didn't help. I am running on XP Pro. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
