How to change the registration number

Post by cweaver871 »

I was using a copy from our sponsoring church and have now purchased our own copy. How can I change the registration number so I can install and upgrade our existing information? I did a clean install but cannot restore data from the old version (version 9 to version 10.4).

Thanks

With your copy of the program you are given technical support for I believe 90 days(?). Call the number at PowerChurch for help.
Best wishes.
We are using PC+ v.11 with the latest upgrades, Win XP Pro, and 5 networked pc's.
We have 569 communicant and baptized members.

You should not be doing a restore. The problem that you're having is since you were using a copy from the sponsoring church, that serial number is saved in the files.

First off, since you're moving to version 10, you need to do a clean install, then tell the setup program that you're upgrading to the new version. It will then search the computer for a previous versions data files.

Once it finds them, it will then convert the database from version 9 to version 10.

Now, again, since you were using the sponsoring church's copy, it will have its serial number in the database. Now its time to call tech support as John recommended, as you'll need their guidance on how to make changed directly to the database.

Hope this helps.
