Error 2027 HasTractorFeedPrinter

Post by Bob@Frucc »

I use Windows XP Pro and PCP10
I am receiving the following error message when I try to print.

Program: HasTractorFeedPrinter -
Line: 4790 -
Error: 2027 -
Message: Declare DLL call caused an exception

Clicking on the OK of that message causes the program to abort and close.

I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled V10 and the run time files and reinstalled V10 (several times). Everything works fine as long as I do not install the 10.4 maintenance release dated 7/14/09. Once I install V 10.4 I can no longer print. I do not have a tractor feed printer. The program does the same thing when I click on Preferences:Custom Check Layout. I had a custom check layout. I've tried deleting the custom check layout files, but that did not correct the problem. Please tell me it's something simple...

You said you don't have a tractor feed printer, but what kind and brand of printer do you have installed. Also, if you have a copyi of an earlier maintenance release, I'd install that for now.

FWIW ... this doesn't seem to be a major problem, as there was only one other message on the forum with this issue. The recommendation there was to call tech support directly.

Perhaps on Monday, one of the Powerchurch programmers may have some additional advice. Is it possible to use a different computer and printer to see if that other system is having the same issue ??

Thanks for the reply. I have options for several printers, HP-LJ4, Dell 922, and others. I tried making each of them the default printer with no results. I'm not actually getting that far. I did notice when I uninstall the program and the runtime files, then reinstall, something is being left behind, because I never need to enter the set up information. Maybe if I could completely remove all traces of the old program, a clean install would work, but not sure how to do that.

Make the LaserJet the default printer.

Then, do a Powerchurch backup of your database. Save that off on a different disk. Go to the HELP menu, and ABOUT to get your serial number, write that down. Using the Windows Add/Remove programs, uninstall Powerchurch.

Once that is finished, open MY COMPUTER, and delete the Powerchurch directory (and all subdirectories). Then reinstall the program, when it opens and asks if you have a database to convert (or upgrade) click NO. It will then ask you for your church data including your serial number. Enter the number, but you can basically enter gibberish for the rest, it will be overwritten.

Once the program is finished with its setup, install the Maintenance Release. As I mentioned, if you have an older MR, install that instead of the newest one. Then open the program, and do a RESTORE of the database from the one you saved previously.

That said, if none of that works, give the support 800 number a call.

I set the default printer to the HP LJ4, did yet another uninstall and reinstall of all the files and made sure that all of the registry entries were removed as well. I used the custom uninstall, which really clears things out. No remnants of any files were left. I then rebooted and reinstalled Version 10 and that works fine. I then installed the 7/14/09 maintenance release, and the problem returns. I do not have any prior releases and could not figure out a way to download a prior release from the web site. It that possible. I again uninstalled and reinstalled V10 and have left it that way, and things work. I wonder if Beta 11 will solve the problem?

Bob,

you really don't want to use a beta to fix a problem, as it is a beta, and there are still bugs being found and fixed. I have to admit that I usually keep a backup of all MRs in case something crept in that would affect the system.

As I mentioned, I've not seen a widespread issue like yours in the forum, I believe that yours is the second or third comment on this. Again, the advice given before is to call the Powerchurch 800 number support line for their assistance. You will want to install an MR if you really only have version 10.0 and not 10.4 as one of the MRs upgraded the program to 10.4 . Since they're cumulative, if you install the previous MR it will do that job.

If you call the support line they will probably set you up with a previous MR, but you have to call as they are not normally available on the website.

Hope this helps!!
