I've just taken over the books at our church and am going nuts! They were using QB Non-Profit and had not balanced with the bank in about ever! The checking account shows a neg. $15k balance which isn't right as they have also been tracking cleared deposits and checks with Excel and the bank (online) and we do have funds in there.
I have been using QB for my business for many years but for the church accounts I am lost. It looks like they were using JE to move funds between their special program accounts but it seems like it would be very easy to post those incorrectly (or forget to post them at all) and I suspect that is a big part of the problem, The JE transfers weren't being done correctly.
I am thinking of switching to PC+ but am afraid that I won't have the knowledge to make it work correctly or it may take too much time for me to learn how to use it. (I do still have to run my business as well!) Also, what about Payroll? I'm used to QB payroll updates online that make those changes. Does PC+ do that?
Any thoughts or suggestions on this?

Re: Will I Like PC+?
I've been using PowerChurch Plus for a little over 3 years. I came to PC+ after spending about 2 years pulling my hair out using ACS, having had only a few hours of training from my predecessor, no documentation, and no technical support. To say I was frustrated is a vast understatement! My prior "bookkeeping" experience consisted of handling household accounts all my adult life. Before starting PC+ I studied all of the forum postings, then plunged in. I have LOVED this software from the first day! With the really outstanding, exceptional support provided through the forum, I have not needed to call in for tech support one time! My bookkeeping/accounting questions have all been answered promptly and professionally by forum members. If you have your own business and do your own bookkeeping/accounting for that business, I can't imagine you would have any difficulty with PC+ for your church accounts. And, of course, one of the major benefits is the integration of membership, contribution, and accounting modules. Granted, my experience is limited (to just ACS and PC+), but I can't imagine myself being happier or more productive using any other software.Flemingtl wrote:I've just taken over the books at our church and am going nuts!
