Restarting Powerchurch
Good morning, quick background on the problem...I have taken over the responsibility of Powerchurch from someone who was not at all familiar with the program and made several mistakes that I can not seem to go back and fix (due to the fact that the month was closed). My question is this; would it be better to just restart Powerchurch, come January 1st or continue to battle with it until we can manage to fix it?

I suspect what you mean is restarting accounting, not restarting Powerchurch.
The answer is: it depends!! Which would be easier for you? Restarting means that you would have to recreate the Chart of Accounts. Using the Accounting Setup wizard does make it easier to do this if you have only one Accounting Fund. However, if you have more than one, you will have to create the other accounting funds' Chart of Accounts by hand, and then create the transactions to insert the starting balances.
You would also lose any accounting history, which means that you must take a backup before doing the restart. If you then would need to access the older data, you would have to backup the newly created data, and restore the old, then restore the new to get back on track.
What exactly is the problem, there may be a work around.
Quick question .. what version of Powerchurch are you using ??
Finally, a friendly tip: each area of the Powerchurch program has its own area on the Forum. Normally, questions on Accounting would be asked in the Accounting area of the forum. In this way, others having the same type of issue can search in one area for an answer.
