V9 Report Exports Complaints

Post by soj »

Wow, we just upgraded to v9 and I must say I'm surprised and DISAPPOINTED with the way the data is placed in the export files. It's a giant step down for PowerChurch software.

Eveything gets thrown into text boxes, hundreds of them, REGARDLESS of application. The export function was vastly more USEFUL and flexible in older versions than it is now.

I'm sorry to say it's almost a joke. Why on earth would anyone want their data placed in text boxes in an Excel spread sheet, for example? One cannot do anything with the data without first laboriously moving each piece of data into a field. Even tab delimited ACSII format exported to an unformatted .txt file places the data out of order.

I used to customize to look and formatting of our reports for our church needs and style. Attempting to do so now would take 10 times as long. Maybe longer. ITMT, we're stuck with the v9 format and working within Powerchurch.

I guess I'm ranting here, as I haven't found any solutions.

Anyone come up with a hack?

Thanks for listening. EE. Norman, OK

I seem to remember that this was due to the need to move ot a newer version of Crystal Reports ... I'm not sure if there is any other default any longer.
