As a wish list item, would it be possible to add identifying information to a backup filename (like before adding loan, or from Sandra), and when we do a restore function, that the application only read the name as far as the current PowerChurch naming convention.
Currently when it sees a modified name it lists it as unknown, even though it should know it was contribution only (C) only, or full backup (B).
As an example:
A - PCBACKUP_20130506_2337ADP.ZIP
B - PCBACKUP_20130506_2337ADP-before-adding-loan.ZIP
C - PCBACKUP_20130522_1250CON-sandra.ZIP

The naming convention is VERY specific. When you change the name, the system no longer recognizes it as a Powerchurch backup, even though the first set of characters (PCBACKUP_20130506_2337ADP) is there. This is to insure that someone doesn't decide to change that first set, then someone else does a restore thinking its only for Contributions, but they overwrite the Accounting too since it was a full backup.
That said, its a good idea to have something like a memo line that could be seen when viewing the list of backups. However, I fully suspect that may have to wait until a new major version (v12.x ??).
I'd send this request via email to wishlist@powerchurch.com, as emails to that address will get their attention faster. Include your request, your rationale for the change, and examples.

Re: Wish List - Backups - File Naming Convention
I understand your point, but I suspect it is a minor code change to just read the first 25 characters (substring) and compare it to their existing table to present the user with the current selection table. The advantage of this route is you can see the filename in any file manger and know what your various versions are, or who made them.
I'll forward it to wishlist@powerchurch.com as you suggested.
