Problem with Emailing Reports

Post by johnday »

We are using PowerChurch 10.4 with Windows 7 and for our purposes it has been serving us well. Recently, we had to reformat the computer hardrive. Since reinstalling PowerChurch, I have not been able to email any financial reports. After pressing the "Start Sending" button, the following error message appears: "OLE IDispatch exception code 0 from CSMail.SMTPClient.1: An SMTP or winsock error occured. No externded error information is available."

I noticed that someone else had a similar error message using PowerChurch 11 but the part of the error message following "from ....) was different.

We have tried a number of ways to correct the problem, including checking that the SMTP is entered correctly, but without success.

Any suggestions concerning how to get the email working again would be greatly appreciated.

The answer is in the thread below:

The SMTP server you're trying to reach is probably using SSL ..

Finally, since you had to reinstall, you may want to make sure you installed the last Maintenance Release for v10.4.

Thanks for the suggestions. I check the email settings and the SSL button is checked. I installed the Maintenance Release and that was confirmed as being correctly installed. However, I still get the same error message when I try to email a report.

Any further suggestions?

Thanks for the patience to stay with me.

Did you add the SSL port to the SMTP server name??

As in: mail.mymail.com:465 ??
