V9 from V8 and moving to new Computer

We want to replace the computer with all of the data on it in V8. Would it be better to move the information as it is in V8 and then update the newer computer with V9? Both computers have XP but the older one is an upgrade from 98, 380MHZ, 128MB Ram. Can all of this be done through the network, eg move all of these files in an easy way?

I am not the one who actually works with all of this but it's been placed in my volunteer job title.

A simplified step explaination would be appreciated.

A simplified step explaination would be appreciated.

1. On the old machine, make sure the PC+ directory is shared on the network, then run a backup as usual.
2. On the new machine, map the PC+ shared directory to a local drive.
3. Install v9.0 on the new machine, along with any Maintenance Releases.
4. Start v9.0 on the new machine, it will ask if you are migrating from an older version, and if you want to convert your files. Say yes, it should find the mapped network drive and read the database.
5. Exit and reenter PC+ when it says to, verify that everything converted properly:
Membership data, accounting, etc.

6. Disconnect the mapped drive on the new machine.
7. Go to the old machine, and run a backup if you've not done it in step 1.
8. Using Add/Delete programs, remove the v8.0 program from the old machine.

I'd then share the new PC+ directory on the network, and setup the old machine as a client.
