A church member says email is too unsecure

Got a question or comment about PowerChurch that doesn't belong anywhere else? Why not post it here!?

A church member says email is too unsecure

He said he does not want his contribution statement by email. Has anyone else received comments like this?

I can't see what is insecure about it. The only thing listed is his address, his envelope number and the amount given. The first most people can find out via Google, the second means nothing to anyone outside of the church contributions area, and the third only shows how generous or miserly the person is!! ;)

Sure its ASCII and anyone can intercept it, but in reality, anyone wanting to hack email, will target large businesses or banks, and that stuff is encrypted.

However, there are always people who are totally paranoid about identity theft, so, print out their contributions, mail it to them, and hopefully no one will steal the mail from their mailbox (which is far more likely than email theft ).

Actually, can be a real problem.

In most instances, NO. (if contributor has webmail elsewhere, etc). But some find getting this type of information AT THEIR WORK email account (where most notifications go), to be a bit disconcerting.

What would be nice would be to create a locked PDF document, or a password protected WORK file, for automatic distribution.

And the password could be maintained by individual person, default for family, or defaults for whole powerchurch distribution.

It would be good to have it encrypted, secured somehow.

(We asked who would like to get email statements... I only got ONE SINGLE response directing it to be done).
