Got a question or comment about PowerChurch that doesn't belong anywhere else? Why not post it here!?

Restoring a backup

Post by Lynda Keefer »

We have lost the hard drive on which the data for Power Church was stored. I have a backup from the end of January on a CD which I am able to restore (but that means I will have to reenter data from 2/1-2/26). I also had an external hard drive that backed up the entire drive that I lost on a nightly basis. I can open and find the data file on that external hard drive, but cannot figure out how to restore it to the program so that I can access it.

You should be able to restore the entire Powerchurch directory.

Since you have the entire drive backup up, why aren't you using it to restore to the new harddrive ??

However, if that is not possble, try this:

1. Install powerchurch from CD
2. Install any Maintenance releases
3. Retore the powerchurch directory and all subdirectories from the external hard drive.

This should work, as you're making sure that the program is installed properly and all the registry entries are correct, and any Windows support files are loaded to the correct Windows directory, then overwriting the powerchurch directories
