Tracking Visitors

Post by Chad »

I need to ideas on how to track visitors. Each time I add a visitor, it adds to the personal profiles. I don't want to add to the personal profile each time.

Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

In order to track visitors, you really do need a personal profile. There are many reasons:

1. You want to see how often this person attends, perhaps to follow up with invitiations to membership classes, etc. You can only track attendance using a personal profile.

2. You need to track any check contributions they put in the plate,.

3. You need to track parents of chiildren attending Sunday School, you may need emergency numbers, etc.

Having personal profiles is not a bad thing, just set them with a personal profile status of visitor, and they won't show up in reports as long as you filter them out.

We use pew pads where we ask everyone to 'sign in', in this way we can gather the visitor's name, possibly their address and phone number. If they don't list an Address, we don't enter them, however, we also gather visitor names when checks are deposited in the plate. This process always creates a personal profile as that is the record where the contributions envelope is connected.

Hope this helps.
