Thanks for replies here and in "Membership" forum.
My key need that seems not possible is automation of queries to create output files used in other applications like emails for listservs? Our church staff has too much to do and worksaving automation is all that will be accepted.
To talk to FoxPro I could consider PHP (that runs on windoze or linux). It has numerous interfaces to databases from Oracle to Ingres to MySQL to IIS to DB2, but not FoxPro :(. It does have an ODBC command suite though. PHP can run as a shell script or as embedded scripts in HTML.
Foxpro uses standard ODBC?
Power Church has a FoxPro Database Manager Utility?
That would be the fastest way to find the DB table/data structure.
Thanks, Allen Wilkinson
P. S.
Is Power Church making any changes towards a network accessible server-based application? It has a ton of nice church focused features.
Linux installation instructions??

AFAIK ... Foxpro uses standard ODBC .. now is a Foxpro specific driver needed, can't hazard a guess, I'm only a user.
As far as a 'server-based' application, many churches have networks, but not a server based network. At my last church, we had PC+ setup on the server, but it was setup using the standard shared directory with internal PC+ permissions setup. There is really no need to have a server to run Powerchurch, just one computer that can have its directory shared to the rest of the network.
Frankly, for the price of Powerchurch, with its basic 'site license', you have the power that can be found in many other 'server based' application, that cost much, much more .

Finally using PC+ in Linux
I finally gave up trying to get PC+ to work via Crossover and then just day before yesterday stumbled upon VirtualBox. It's free! And I was able to install WinXP and then PC+ in that Windows installation and restore my data via the cdrom. I haven't figured out how to make the usb flashdrive work yet even though Device Manager says it's supposed to be working okay. (Guess I need to read the documentation.) And I have yet to install my printer. For those who might be interested, I'm using a laptop wirelessly and running Linux Ubuntu Edgy with KDE. VirtualBox can be found at www.virtualbox.org . I'd recommend that if you decide to try this you download the documentation and follow it to the letter. A helpful site is http://www.ubuntugeek.com/create-and-ma ... albox.html , Also, you'll want to install your usual anti-virus and other safe-computing utilities. You will, after all, be in Windows.
I'd like to hear here from anybody else who might try this. Don't blame me if what you do wipes out your 'puter though. I wonder: do the PC folks have anything to say about this program?
