Check Forms "Defects"

Post by stpeters@libcom »

I am preparing to buy checks and am checking the format for compatibility with a locally obtained form. I am using the laser-top-with-two-stubs form. I note that the default for this form puts the date on the Pay To line just to the left of the amount rather than under the check number. I can fix that in a custom form, but why should I have to? Also why does PC+ print a check number when my forms will be prenumbered? PC+ needs the number to put on the check record, but printing the number overprints the blank check form. I suppose that I could delete that on the custom form, but again, why should I have to? Also, the two stubs do not contain the same information, though it appears in the custom check edit page that the same information is called for in each stub. What am I missing? :?

We include the check number on the check so you can make sure that the check number PC+ assigned matches with the check number that it actually printed on. This is a double check against the printer pulling two checks or some printers that reverse collate. You can delete the field in the custom check if you want to, but that is the reason we included it on the check.

OK, I understand the check number, and it will print below the form number, if I decide to leave it in. How about the location of the date? Was the location on the "To" line on purpose or is this a oversight? I moved it to the proper spot on the upper right. After looking at the stubs again, I see that the information printed is right for the vendors copy and my copy. They should not be the same as I had assumed.

Thanks

Check stock printed by different companies have subtle differences. We guarantee that checks purchased from Dynamic Systems will line up perfectly without any adjustments needed. Otherwise, you will have to use the report designer to move things around to suit the layout of whichever company you choose to purchase checks from.
