Quick Tasks versus Quick Menus

Got a question or comment about PowerChurch that doesn't belong anywhere else? Why not post it here!?

Quick Tasks versus Quick Menus

Post by umc.manatee »

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it:

Are both Quick Tasks and Quick Menus specific to the individual user, and is that ability to see either (Tasks and/or Menus) based on the modules they have access to?

TIA!

I'm fairly sure that they will only be allowed access to those modules they have permissions to access. They may see the task, but the system won't allow them any further than that.

Why would they see these if they can't access? I'm not sure, but I'm guessing that being able to see a task is not denied by the permissions system, but when they try to enter that module, that system then blocks the person.

Can a user (who is not a SYS Admin) have access to File -> User Setup and can add or subtract module items that they DO have access to?

They should be able to as its their 'quick tasks'.

So each user's Quick Tasks and Quick Menus ARE specific to the individual user's logon then?

I'm just going to cut and paste from the Powerchurch built-in HELP :

--------------------------------------------
The Quick Tasks menu opens by default, docked along the left side of the PowerChurch Plus window. It consists of collapsible groups of shortcut links to commonly used menu items and reports. Some default options are created in the Quick Tasks menu for you automatically. The Quick Tasks menu and its contents can be customized by each user account in PowerChurch.

To customize the Quick Tasks menu, click the wrench Setup button located at the bottom of the Quick Tasks menu. This opens the Quick Tasks tab on the User Setup Options screen. Check or uncheck the Auto-Start option at the bottom left of the Quick Tasks menu to change whether or not the Quick Tasks window should open automatically when PowerChurch is first run.

=======================================================================

Near the bottom of each menu in PowerChurch, you will find a Quick Menu option. This places a small window with buttons for each of that module's most commonly used menu items. This is usually an abbreviated list, allowing you to quickly access the menu items you use most frequently without having to navigate through multiple levels of menus and sub-menus.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, any User can personalize their Tasks and Menu from the User Setup Options found under File -> Preferences. That said, they can try adding modules, but they will only access the ones that they have permissions for.
