Currently the stock Balance Sheet report is for all transactions up to the end of the selected month (or partial if part ways through the month).
I have a balance issue within specific funds, but the Consolidated is OK. To help narrow down the issue, I would like to be able to specify a specific date (i.e. August 15 2013) so that I can reduce the number of journals to scour. If I keep changing the date I should be able to work by way up to the error date.
I've already scoured the journals for the entire month and can not nail down the culprit. We currently use three funds, and there must be an account coding error whereby it was paid by the bank/AP of one fund, and expensed to another.
Is there a way to modify the current pre-canned Balance Sheet Report, or easily create a custom report?

Unfortunately no .. but since you think that the amount was paid by one fund, and not the correct one, have you tried running the Selected Transactions report by fund?
Or even better, if you're using v11.5 you can reprint the posting reports by each posting date, that should show you all the transactions, as well as the debit & credit accounts used.
