V. 11.5 Payroll Module Tax Tables: Huh??

Post by k9vet »

I live in NH where we have no state taxes to worry about. I have installed V. 11.5 and it did the data conversion from our old version 9.
That process went fine. Now I am up to the point of completing the payroll module Tax Tables section. I am totally mystified. I have looked at pp. 296-297 in the user guide but I still don't know the "right answers" to put in the boxes! I JUST WANT THE SOFTWARE TO PRINT
PAYROLL CHECKS THE SAME WAY VERSION 9 DID.

There are 5 lines in the tax chart: "Fed tax married, fed tax single, Medicare, soc sec. and ss employee 2011". I don't know what to put in the boxes for the first 2 federals where it asks for "std deduction" and "withholding allowance".
The Medicare line shows 1.45%. Do I select that?
The soc sec line shows 6.2%. Do I select that?
And the ss employee 2011 line shows 4.2%. Do I select that?
We only have 6 employees: 3 salaried and 3 hourly. And we only deal with three of the first 4 deductions shown on p. 297 of user guide:
Fed withholding, soc sec and medicare, so it can't be all that complicated...
Please guide me thru this so we can use payroll module as well as all other areas in v. 11.5. Thank you!

The System actually does BETTER than v9, because it can handle many additional payroll deductions, taxes, etc.

This video also walks you through part 2 of the Payroll Conversion:

Also, pressing the F1 - HELP key brings up the Context Help for the area you're in. It has the EXACT same information as the manual, but because it brings it up in the area you're in, much easier to use.

The Youtube video tutorial was the key to getting through this payroll set-up. The user manual is useless for this and that section should be
rewritten in MUCH more thorough detail. Frustrating and disappointing... Thank you for referring me to the video.
