PowerChurch Restore Backup

Post by kimvdh »

I have tried to restore a back up from my old PC which had crashed on me. I have a successful back up on an external hard drive. I have already installed Powerchurch on to my new computer. To back up I understand that I must click utilities, then click backup and restore. When I do so I am ask to install an update to which I click yes. Once I click yes it feels as though it updates for 1 second then returns to main screen. When I try to click back up and restore again it asked me to update creating a cycle.

Is there another way to restore files from a back up or am I missing something.
Any help would be appreciated!!!!
Thanks

Just say NO to the update (since you can update any time by just going to the HELP pull down) and then restoring your old backup through UTILITIES first.

when I click no nothing happens either. (The update is to install updated runtime files)
No matter what option I try I never get passed utilities and selecting the backup or restore tab

I'm assuming that the install of Powerchurch was a 'fresh' install on the new PC, and that you're accessing Powerchurch locally, not through a network.

Try this, download the latest Maintenance Release for the version of Powerchurch you have from the Powerchurch website, and install it Manually. Once it installed, open the program. If there are going to be any local updates, it should happen now.

Try to do a restore, if you get the same error, try this troubleshooting technique.

Look under the Powerchurch\PCPLUSxxx (where is the version you're using)\INSTALL directory for the NetsetupXXX program. Click on that to run it. Then try the restore. Let us know what happens.

Its actually a new Mac - but I got parallels program on it which allows my to use part of my Mac as a pc so that I can still use powerchurch. I have pc11, and yes I am using it locally - not apart of a network
I will try what you said and let you know - thanks!
