Server 2012 Drop Out Issues
We are running PowerChurch in a virtual machine on Server 2012. Has anyone experienced dropouts (millisecond) in this environment? We think there may be an issue with the server's Ethernet adapters or network switch issues but are not sure. The network dropouts are causing PowerChurch to think one or more files are open when they are in fact not (or at least they don't show open on the server). When an individual tries to access the affected module, he/she receives a PowerChurch error message saying the xxxx file is in use or xxxx file is read only and PowerChurch closes. Just exploring all possible resources. Thanks for your help. Mike

Just wondering, why are you running Powerchurch in a virtual machine? It should run fine under Server 2012MikeKeller wrote:We are running PowerChurch in a virtual machine on Server 2012. Neil.. Our IT Director runs a VM that has all our apps and backuos in it. I think he told me one time that we have 3 VMs. I think all of our school stuff runs in one of the VMs but am not sure. If the problem continues, I think he plans on moving PowerChurch to one of the smaller stand alone servers. Mike

I do suspect the Virtual Machine ... Powerchurch does rely on simple Microsoft File/Drive sharing to work. Permissions are handled internally to Powerchurch, so the Powerchurch directory requires full read/write permissions to everybody. Something tells me the VM is also caching some data.MikeKeller wrote:Neil.. Our IT Director runs a VM that has all our apps and backuos in it.
