Need help with email setup please

Post by KPegram »

I am trying to setup the email for PowerChurch and I get the following error when I test it:
Program Sendmail Connect
Line 42
Error 1426
Message OLE Error code 0x80040112: Class is not licensed for use.
Please advise. Thanks,

There is an e-mail component installer file in the program directory (by default C:\PowerChurch\PCPLUS115\Install\) called PC115Email.exe.

Run that program to reinstall (and register) the e-mail components.

I may be in the wrong place but in Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features I see: PowerChurch 11 Code Stone E-Mail 7.0.21013 Files. Is that the one you referred to? Thanks,

In PowerChurch, go to Help > About PowerChurch Plus. Right click the mouse on the System Information tab and choose "Open explorer to program directory".

In the window that opens, go into the "Install" folder and run the PC11Email.exe program to reinstall the e-mail components.

After entering the data in the System Setup/e-mail in our online PowerChurch, I get the following message when I attempt to test or send an e-mail: "Error within socket connect DNS lookup failed". I tried using the data from our church e-mail system and from my personal e-mail to no avail.

What is the smtp server name that you are trying? DNS lookup failed means it is not a valid address.

smtp.gmail.com for outgoing mail server.

I also get the error when I press the send button that "a connection to the email server could not be made."

First off, make sure that you have your email setup just like this for gmail:
===============================================
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
Requires authentication: Yes
Username: Your full gmail address
Password: Your password
Security: SSL

Some people get it working without issue with these settings. Others need to define the specific port. If these settings as above do not work for you, try adding the port number to the end of the SMTP address:

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com:465

======================================
In addition, I suspect that your local ISP is blocking the outgoing port, so add the PORT number as shown in the last line in the quoted area above.

Actually, that sounds like you're using the wrong password now !!

I would try to log in to mail.google.com with the email and password you've been using. If you get a login error there, then you know that there's an issue with the userid or password.

I can login as suggested at mail.google.com without any problem. I did find that when I login, after I put in my email account I get the following option before I put in my password. I click on organization and then it goes to another screen where I put in my password.

SOOO I have an additional step before I can add my password.

"There are two existing Google Accounts for office@faithbaptistdurham.com. Which account do you want to use?

Organizational

Individual"

Sounds like it may be a good idea to create a new email account just used for email communications, as I'm not sure that PCPlus can work around that Google issue. Are you using Google Apps (or whatever they're calling it now) ?? If so, I would definitely create a separate email account for this purpose, and then set it up to forward any incoming mail to the office email account.
