Got a question or comment about PowerChurch that doesn't belong anywhere else? Why not post it here!?

Chromebook Wish

Post by MWH »

We currently use powerchurch plus, as the person in the church organization that continually strives ways to save funds it would be great if there was a way to use the powerchurch plus on a Chromebook. Does anyone know if there are any plans to make this a possibility?

As far as I know .. you will probably not see a version of Powerchurch that will natively run on a Chromebook as it does on a Windows computer anytime in the next few years. The reason for this is that Chrome OS is primarily designed to use applications set in the 'Cloud'. While there are local applications that are local to the computer, theres no way to 'cross-compile' programs originally designed for Windows to run natively on ChromeOS.

Now, if there were an IDS client for the Chrome OS there would be a way to run Powerchurch Online, but you'd then be paying the yearly fee so anything you save on the computer, you'd spend on the software.

My advice, when you have 14" Dell Laptops starting at 229.99 running Windows 10, and you can still run your existing software; Whereas a Dell 11" Chromebook is $239.00, and others starting at $179, you're not saving all that much in the long run.
