benevolence

Our Pastor is taking an extended sick leave. We want to help him financially but it wouldn't be a salary. How would I list that in the program? Could I use the Benevolence option? Thank You

I would check with a good accountant, as this could be construed as sick pay and thus subject to Federal income tax, and must be declared by the minister as falling under the SECA tax.

That's the best we can do as we're not accountants, and do not wish to give you information that could put your congregation in a legal bind.

Thank you.
If you find that it is indeed sick pay, it would have to be setup in Payroll as a new pay item, and eventually shown on the W2.
