Accessing data using MSAccess

We have been using PowerChurch for a few years now and as such there is a need for us to do some data clean up. I would like to access the PC data and scrub it to clean it up a bit. I was told that I could use MSAccess and link to data using the Link table feature, but when I tried, I got an error stating it was not in database format. I have the latest Foxpro driver from MS, I know that is not the problem. Since accessing PC data is not supported by PC, I was wondering if anyone had step by step directions to connecting to the data using MSAccess. Otherwise, does anyone have any other suggestions on data cleanup besides perusing through thousands of individual records and making corrections manually.

Here is an article discussing alternative methods to access the database files.

Also, although this document is not created or supported by PowerChurch in any way, HERE is an article detailing the whole process. The only difference is when you select the Visual Foxpro file using browse, version 8 and 8.5 does not use the DBC, it uses Free Tables.

Good Luck!

We do not recommend, nor can we offer support for updating/deleting data external to PowerChurch. You can connect to the PowerChurch data using the Foxpro ODBC driver available from Microsoft, but we suggest using that access for READ ONLY.

Make plenty of backups, because if you wreck your data, you're on your own. Actually, you're on your own either way.
