"This Application has failed to start" AGAIN!!!!

Post by khadda »

Power church 9 with updated net install... win98 server and xp client... So here goes-------

An outside contractor came in to work on the computers, and in turn killed power church!! AARRGGHH!! I fixed this a year ago! 2-25-05 (gotta love .txt files :-) ) Anyhow.. He installed a bunch of freeware/spyware apps (which I un-installed) and put some good ones on.. and did TONS of windows updates... Anything that could update, he did.. Which in turn (Suprise!) Killed power church (I'm guessing..) I have taken off every update that I could and still nothing.. There is still some office XP and media player updates left over, but I thought I would leave them for now.. This remindes me EXACTLY of the problem last year.. However, the update in question is nowhere to be found on the system.. I am running out of ideas, Any info from anybody out there that may be of help???

Thanks
-Kyle

There is a WinXP update that kills Powerchurch when its served from a Win98 machine.

My advice ... WinXP without all the fixes is a virus hive waiting to happen. Can you move the Powerchurch server side to the XP machine, and make the Win98 machine the client ??

Hi NeilZ... I was thinking of doing that, but later down the road... We are planning on getting some new machines, but just need the old ones to work for a little while longer (like they did two weeks ago!!!! They were working great since last feb.!! ) I am aware of the XP update that kills PCH (KB885250), but is there a "new" update that kills it as well??

Not that I've heard or seen. I'd move the server, it doesn't take that long to do, and it would solve that issue so you can work.
