In using the mail merge to MsWord I find it a problem that PC exports Mail merge in a limited way as "Salutation", "Mailing Name", "Address" and so on.
The problem is with "Mailing Name" it is exported as one block "Mr. John Doe"
and not very useful in a form letter. I would like to see this exported in 3 parts as "Title" "First Name" "Last Name" to mach the setup in word and be able to insert any one part in the letter as Dear John or Dear Mr. Doe instead of Dear Mr. John Doe. Has anyone been able to make a replacement file to fix something like this?

Personal profiles mail merge file is broken down in that manner. The mailing list mail merge file will use whatever you have listed in the Salutation, so if you have John & Mary in that block in the mailing list profile it will use that.

Thanks Neil, I see it is that way in Personal Profile under Membership.
I am using Contributions---Create Mail Merge File---Selected Contributors---Selection Criteria and then set the Fund number to a Memorial Fund Number in order to send thank you letters to the people that donated to that Fund. It is simple doing it that way, but it uses the Mail format with the name as a block. If I use the Personal Profile under Membership I can't set a Fund number so it means printing the Fund list and then have to sit and find each name to Tag it, a long job.
It would be nice if the Contribution module could be set to use the Personal Profile mail setup, it is much more useful.
