Program date not changing w/ new MR

(If this is not the correct forum, please move this posting.)

We are using PC+ Version 10.4.

I just downloaded/installed the "latest" Maintenance Release for the second time (I think :| ). The reason being, when I clicked on Help --> About PowerChurch Plus, a window popped up telling me a new MR was available and would I like to download it now? Well, I was pretty certain I had already done that, so I clicked "No" and checked the System Information tab where I discovered that the program date was 11/05/2007. SOooo, I downloaded the latest MR, restarted the computer, restarted PC+ and -- guess what? The program date is *still* 11/05/2007. Have I misunderstood how to tell whether I have the most recent MR installed?

Chances are, you have PowerChurch installed in more than one location, and you're updating the wrong one. On that same screen where you're seeing the program date in PowerChurch, you'll also see the program directory. Make sure that is the same that is used during the install process for the MR. If that's not it, let us know.

Maybe I am being to literal. But shutting down your computer and restarting does not install the MR. You need to run the MR to install it. If you actually did this step before shutting down Zaphod is most likely correct. Also there is no need to shut down you PC after the install.

My thanks to you both! You were right. I reinstalled in the *correct* directory and all is well. (Not counting a slightly wounded pride  but that's not necessarily a bad thing!)

(BTW, Tom, in my book there's no such thing as "too literal"! I usually am, but in my posting I was not-enough-literal in that I had run the MR .exe before shutting down but failed to say so.:|)

That's actually a very common mistake, so don't feel too bad! :D
