Heather sent me this via email:
I work with 2 churches that are amalgamating into one.
They both use PowerChurch.
Just looking for an easy way rather than data entering the one into the other.
This does explain a few things.
What I'd do is this:
1. Check with the Powerchurch support people to see if they could merge the databases for you (it will probably be at a fee for service basis). If they can then
2. Try and standardize both databases so that the same data is being used in the same locations. That is, that both databases are using the 4th date field as 'date joined', or that they have the same personal profile statuses.
That said, sometimes its best to just enter the data by hand. This would give you an opportunity to get with the congregations to update their personal data. I know from experience that changes to that data rarely gets reported to the church office.
However, you could spare yourself some data entry by exporting the mailing list profiles from one database, and import it in the other. This is the only import option available for membership data.
Then all you'd have to do is enter the personal profile data, and give the people added to the database new envelope numbers.
