We are in the process of looking for a server. We have to use Verizon DSL cause FIOS is not available yet. We will have about 10 ports 1 DSL and 9 phone lines. Tthe software below is currently on a PC, i'm looking at doing a local area network for about 8 PCs to access the server and using a remote router. I would also want to be able to remotely access it. I would think that we would not have more than 7 users using the system any one time. Other minstries will want to use it in the future for word processing, EXCEL, powerpoint, pictures, videoes, digital recording of meetings., etc.....

Any suggestions on hardware/software that you are using churchplus to run on?

FWIW ... there are a lot of requirements for a server. If you're going to use it as a file server, or a application server, etc.

For Powerchurch, you really don't need a server, just a computer on the network that can share the Powerchurch directory on the network using standard Microsoft sharing.

What I would do is check with a local computer support company who can help you design and select the software and hardware you need for your current and future needs.

As a church, you can get Microsoft software at a discount. That said, Open Office can give you the same functionality at zero cost.
