We use version 9. Recently text boxes have been showing up grayed out. We are unable to add anything to our contributions. Name, Envelope, etc are unresponsive. Any ideas? Please.

Offhand, I'd be wondering if someone has changed permissions on the database or something like that?
Have you been keeping your system current with maintenance releases ??

This machine isn't even connected to the internet. And no one uses it except for the secretary just for this app. She would have no idea how to change permissions. I don't either on this OS, as I'm a Mac user. I assume you would do that in the program files somewhere??
thanks

OK ... first off, you probably have not updated with any MRs lately.
Secondly, not being connected to the Internet, does not mean that you may not have picked up a virus or trojan from a CD or USB drive that was used to transfer a file.
Also, have you checked the Powerchurch permissions, who has access to that, and perhaps someone changed the permission from update to read only.
Sounds crazy

but this machine never connects to anything except a printer. All email, word, and other programs are run of off a different machine in a different office. This machine only does PowerChurch.
Where do you go to check permissions for this app? I'm assuming in program files? Thanks.

If you use passwords to get into PowerChurch, there may be PowerChurch permissions issues. If you do not use passwords (ie, when you open PowerChurch, you go right in, and aren't prompted for a username and password), then it's something external.
Most likely, it's your password settings.
To view or change these, you'll need to log in as the system admin. Again, if this isn't an option you have when starting PowerChurch, this isn't your problem. Then, go to File -> Preferences -> Passwords, and see what the settings are for the username you use. If you have read-only access, but not change access, that can account for the behavior you're seeing.
