Printing a Directory including Children's names

Post by stnicholaschurch »

I am a new user of PowerChurch (we have version 8.5) I have printed a directory but I would like the children's names to appear along with the family listing. How do I do this? Thank you for all suggestions. Cathy Bennett at St. Nick's

Cathy,

are you printing the directory from the Personal Profiles module ?? I suspect that you're doing it from the Family Mailing List module.

The Church Directory reports in version 8.5 should be including children's names.

Something you may want to check, is if you are making a selection on the Personal Status code, be sure you are selecting codes that are assigned to Members' children as well.

It is possible that the children are simply being excluded from the report because of too narrow of a selection criteria on the Personal Status codes.

Children's names in directory

Post by stnicholaschurch »

Hi All,
I'm finally getting back to trying to print a directory with kids' names in it. Let me tell you what I do and maybe someone can tell me what I need to do differently.

To print the directory, I go to Membership - Personal Profiles - Reports/Personal Profiles -Church Directory

Then it asks Which Personal Profiles do you want to include in the Directory?

I select Member-Active only.

If I select Child as well then I get a separate directory entry for all children in the system, even those not connected with an active member family.

What I'm aiming for, and I've seen done by someone in our church in the past, is to have the children's first names listed along with the entry for the parents in the directory.

All help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cathy,

you should select both member and child, as this is the selection criteria used to pull the data from the system. The report will then have the names of the family grouped properly.

The reason for this is that each personal profile is separate. There is a link to the main mailing list profile, but because you are only selecting members, and not family group members or children, the system filters those records from being selected.

In other words, all the profile statuses you want to include must be selected.

Hope this helps.
