Sending attachments using group email & Gmail

Post by Office Admin »

I'm having problems using PowerChurch to send an email message attachment to a group. Group emails get delivered ok. But, when I attach our newsletter as a pdf attachment the email arrives and when you open the attachment is says it will not open and that the data is corrupted.

I have send several email with attachments in the past and it worked just fine. But, we just switched from Qwest email to Gmail. I don't know if the problem is Gmail or the Gmail or Powerchurch settings. We also use Outlook 2007 for reading email.

We use Windows Vista, Outlook 2007 and PowerChurch Plus 10 and I use the program Software995 to convert documents to pdf.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It may be Gmail. Check to see if there are any settings at Gmail concerning attachments.

FWIW ... I would use your ISP's supplied email account to send out these emails. You don't need to use it for everyday mailings, just for sending out the newsletter. I've seen many forum posts starting to crop up from Powerchurch users trying to use Gmail or Google Apps mail and having problems.

There is an issue with the component we use for emails. When using Windows Vista (and probably Windows 7) and sending emails through a server that requires SSL (like Gmail) the attachments will become corrupted.

A new version of the component is available: http://powerchurchsoftware.com/support/pc10email.exe

This fix has already been incorporated into version 11, and will be included in the next version 10 maintenance release.
