I am attempting to move a family member from the family group to be an indenpendant.

could you please tell me how to do that?

Create a new family for them in the Integrated Data Entry screen, then move the individual from the family group into the new family. To move the profile, go to the Family Members tab, select the person, then click the "Move Profile" button and choose the new family from the list that pops up.
