Data Base question

We are in the process of working with Pitney Bowes to try to put together a mail system for our church. We are presently using PowerChurch (latest version) and I want to know if the database is exportable to another application. I was told by our rep that as long as it was built in Excel, Access or was DBF, ASCII or comma delimited it could export to the Bowes system.

If anyone knows the answer to this, please let me know so that I can pass the info along to him. I don't want to have to enter 2400 names & addresses if I can help it!!!

Thanks.

The underlying database for PowerChurch is FoxPro. The data is stored in *.DBF files which, according to what you've noted, should work just fine.

You will probably have a hard time accessing the DBF files in PowerChurch because they are Visual FoxPro DBFs which have a slightly different format than standard DBF files. But there is an easier way.

Look at the "Create file for Mailer's+4" option on the print mailing labels dialog box. What this does is create a standard DBF file of the information that would be printed on the mailing labels. This is probably what the Pitney Bowes rep is looking for. This way, you do not have to change any procedures in PowerChurch other than checking that box. The program will then ask you for a file name and create a file with your information.

By the way, we also sell Mailer's +4 that provides CASS and PAVE processing of your mailing lists. Call us at 800-486-1800 for more information.

Many thanks!
