PCSETTINGS.LOADSETTING ERROR

Post by tborgal »

Ran into an issue this morning on my home setup were the program would not load. I received the following error message.

Program: pcsettings.loadsetting
Line: 92
Error: 41
Message: Memofile c:\Programfiles\Powerchurch\pcplus11\data\coinfo.ftp is missing or is invalid

The file was in fact there so I did the following. Ran netsetup and got the same message. I went to my complete folder backup which is on an external drive and copied the coinfo.ftp file from there to my c: drive and the program still would not run. Tried to run the program from the external drive and it ran fine so I copied the entire folder back to the c: drive but it still would not run on c:\. I then tried to run the program from my laptop networked to the same pc and the program ran on the laptop. I then restored from a backup I had created yesterday at the church and after that the program ran on the pc with no problem.

Any ideas on what was going on here and how would I get out of this if I did not have a networked computer connected to allow me to restore the data?

The pc I had trouble with is a Dell Studio xps running Window7 64 bit. The laptop which I was able to run the program from is also running Windows7 64 bit.

If you are on Windows Vista or 7, don't install programs like PowerChurch Plus in the Program Files folder. The data files end up being "virtualized" for each user. If you move the PowerChurch folder out to the root of C, so you are looking at C:\PowerChurch\PCPLUS11\, it will probably work fine, or at least, the things you are doing to try and fix it will work.
