I am presenting a proposal to the Board next Tuesday to (finally) upgrade our PowerChurch from V9 to V11. I need some reasons why this is a good thing to do. Here are some questions I will most likely be asked.
1. Does v11 correct issues in V9? If yes what specifically?
2. Are there increased or enhanced functions?
3. Does payroll deal with fractions of cents and Pastor pay rules better?
4. Is reporting, especially custom easier to create?
5. Are there any new reports which are especially popular?
6. Anything else that would help me convince the Board to spend the money would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Judy

Judy ... here are some answer and a few URLs to help you

1. Depends on what you mean by issues in v9. There have been many limitations removed, as well as additional functionality added, see this location for more info: http://powerchurch.com/products/pcplus/details.php

2. See #1

3. Payroll has been completely revamped, not sure what you mean by 'pastor pay rules', but most minister pay situations have been addressed.

4. Custom reports uses the same interface, however, more fields are available to use, and help is always available here, as well as a tutorial available for purchase: http://powerchurch.com/products/crtutorial.php

5. There are many new reports under the Mailing LIsts, Personal Profile, Contributions, etc. However, explain what you mean by 'popular'.

6. FWIW .. support of Version 9 will eventually stop, that is a given, and I figure it will be sooner, rather than later. Version 10 was a large leap over version 9, version 11 is even better, with more features and improved interfaces. For the upgrade price of $149, you're getting a program that provides more features than its nearest competitor, with better support, and at a better price.

If you don't believe me, download the demo: http://powerchurch.com/demo/demodownload.php

In any case, the upgrade price of $149 is only until the end of October, in my opinion, buying the upgrade is a good use of church resources.

There is a page that shows just the changes that were made in each version as well, so that you can take changes that were made in Version 10, 10.4, and 11 into consideration, since you will be getting all three upgrades in one.

Thanks this is what I needed. What will the price for the upgrade be after October?

Oh .. then the 'until' date on the pricing page is an advertising gimmick :P

The sale price thru the end of the month is for new users not for upgrades. The give away is the red numbers, but it probably could be a little clearer.

DOH !! :wall:

There's no asterisk next to that 'New User' price, so I'm thinking its an upgrade special ...
