Is there a way to track which user inputs or changes data?

There is no audit trail for membership, you do have some audit trails in Contributions. Was there a specific area you were looking for ??

I've found double entries, people in the wrong family, misspelled names, etc. I would like to know who entered the record, or who was the last person to modify the record so I could speak to that person individually instead of having to make general sweeping statements about being more careful with your data entry. Since there is a date last modified field and a date entered, why can't it capture the users login and store that also?

The system does not track who makes changes or adds new people in the Membership side.

We had to basically make sure that only people who really NEEDED add/update/delete permissions were given them, and made sure that they knew how to search for names.

I can understand why there isn't such an audit trail. There can be so many updates made over a week, that sort of table would quickly become unwieldy.

It does boil down to a training issue.

I feel your pain. I have gone through the effort several times of getting all the households/profiles straightened out and then when i look again....chaos.

It doesn't have to be a full blown audit trail...just the addition of an "update by" field. Usually goes hand in hand with the "update date" field in a database.

Problem is an update field would not help you to discover who deleted a record. If the record is gone, there's no trail. It would tell you who updated Mary's record, but that's about all, not what was changed.

Is there an "Audit Trail" report available; one that would show a list of all "personal records" that have been altered and would identify the alteration(s).

No .. as mentioned above, there can be so many updates made weekly that such a table would grow unwielding in a few months.

The easiest way to take care of the problem is to make sure only those people who REALLY need update or delete permissions have that permission.
