UNABLE TO SCAN CHECKS
We purchased a check reader from magtek. We are unable to scan the checks. I went to the powerchurchsoftware website and downloaded the check reader software but it still doesnt recognize the reader. We are using powerchurch version 10.4 , any suggestions? I was instructed that powerchurch would pick it right up. I had the bank to scan one particular check to make sure it was scanable and it was. That eliminates the magnetic ink problem. When I do enter the contribution and when it scans there is an error message at the top right hand corner in powerchurch. Saved but lost in powerchurch.

You didn't say which model of Magtek reader you purchased: serial port, keyboard/PS2 connection, or USB; so here's some info on all three:statetreasurer wrote:We purchased a check reader from magtek. Serial: http://powerchurch.com/support/kb/kbvie ... ticle_id=2
USB: http://powerchurch.com/support/kb/kbvie ... icle_id=64, http://powerchurch.com/support/kb/kbvie ... icle_id=91
Keyboard/PS2 ... really is the easiest of them all, just plug it in.
Then do the test as described here to see what is being read in: http://powerchurch.com/support/kb/kbvie ... ticle_id=5
Also, what version of Windows are you using ??

OK ... if you didn't get software from Magtek, then somethings wrong. A USB reader should have come with an installation disk.statetreasurer wrote:We purchased the magtek p/n 22523009

If you go through the posts, you'll find a link to Vista drivers for the Magtek.

Re: UNABLE TO SCAN CHECKS
This should have been posted in your thread as now we're getting separated from your original post.statetreasurer wrote:"http://www.magtek.com/support/software/ ... 102.01.exe
Of course, this is a Windows exe. Just run it, which extracts a bunch of files to a folder. Inside that folder is MICRBase.exe. "
I am not the smartest crayon in the box......LOL which folder is it in. I searched for the folder but cant find it. When i ran the file it read that it unzipped it to folder MICRBase.
That said, I don't believe you need to use the MICRBase software, as this is used to set the scanner to the correct symbol set. Since you already said that the symbol set is correct, all you need to make sure you have the correct USB drivers installed for your system.
I'm also going to copy and paste this in the original thread.
