changing 'type of check' in printer setup

I am a newbie so this may be a dumb question. I would like to have Power Church remember that my check type is top check with two stubs, it reverts to middle check between print jobs. It also thinks my HP Office Jet is a Laser printer which it is not. Suggestions?
Thanks a million!

First to set your check layout go to File > Preferences > Custom Check Layout. In the window click on the custom button. Select reset layout then select the layout you want and click OK and click OK again and this should set the check layout you want and keep it.
Second, the printer that PC+ selects is your default printer. So set your default printer to the printer you have and it will be the one that appears each time you want to print something.

I'm fairly sure that if the Powerchurch system admin goes into
File -> Preferences -> Custom Check Layout and sets the check format there, it won't change. I suspect that the check default was never changed so it keeps on defaulting to the middle check.
Also, the system does not determine whether or not the printer is a laser, it only uses the printers that are setup on the computer. What you are probably seeing is the description of the check, which is a
laser top check 2 stubs
