Using PC 11.5 and Outlook 2007. Email setting are identical but getting the following message when sending email through PC 11.5: "A connection to the email server could not be made. An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions."
Any ideas???

OK ... as you mentioned, you have Powerchurch email settings setup the same way as Outlook. Is your SMTP server using the standard port or does it access a different port, and use authentication?

You would find this in Outlook under the account settings, advanced or other settings button. Look for the Server tab .. it will reflect the SMTP server, along with the port and if any authentication is used.

Also .. does the error message give you any number?? The exact error would be helpful.

Yes, the Outlook settings show that the server requires authentication and the outgoing server port (SMTP) is 366. Does this help? Do I need to change something there?

You need to adjust some settings in Powerchurch.

Under the EMAIL Setup ... you need to add the 366 to the SMTP server line like this:

SMTP.MYSERVER.COM:366

Then make sure the 'My server needs Authentication' (or something like that) checkbox is checked. Then click on the TEST button to see if that works.
